Description
On offer is a large, 100% genuine, first strike copperplate engraving from the 1787 book entitled “A New, Royal and Authentic System of Universal Geography, Ancient and Modern” published by Thomas Bankes & printed by Charles Cook, London. The book included engravings from Captain Cooks voyagers and other celebrated explorers journeys.
The engraving is entitled “Habit of a Young Woman of Otaheite / Dancing & Bringing a Present” and has been lightly hinged to acid free white backing. The page size measures 39cms wide x 24.5cms, some foxing & marks as per photos, the top of the page was not originally cut straight. Looks far better than the photos depict. The rear is blank. Would look stunning framed.
Will be posted flat & not rolled to avoid creasing & damage.
