On offer is a photograph from an Oriental Photographic Album that was dated 1904. The albums' contents consisted of numerous silver photo’s from the Meiji period with dates ranging from the 1860s to c1900. The contents of the album mainly featured “School of Yokohama” photographers works + a smattering of others, all taken from the original negatives & reproduced on very thin paper. A lot of these photos have been hand coloured, some have faded with age while others have retained good sharp features.
This particular photograph measures 135 mms x 85 mms & has been attached to professional grade acid free white cardboard backing. The photo is entitled “Transplanting Rice” and retains reasonable details & good colouring. The rear is blank. The exact age & original photographer is unknown.
