Description
Antique 1796 Sterling Silver Decorative Repoussé Creamer Jug C. Chesterman 108.8g
Beautifully made, antique, sterling silver creamer jug with stunning floral repoussé decoration and a scrolled blank cartouche to the front section. The fine details and form of the jug has all been hand chased, showing a great deal of skill. This delightful jug was made 226 years ago. The right top side of the cup near the handle is stamped with the leopard head for London, the silver quality lion rampant stamp, the date letter A for the year 1796. The makers stamp is very faint and hard to read, it looks to be C.C and research suggests this could be the maker Charles Chesterman II, who carried on his late father Charles Chesterman's silversmithing business. Considering the age of the jug, it presents really well with no signs of damage or repairs. It is well polished and really clean inside. A really lovely example to add to your collection.
