Beautiful antique French art nouveau style .800 silver chainmail bag from the early 1900's. The frame is exquisitely decorated with fine repoussé art nouveau style flowers and garlands. The purse is made of quality chain mail, there are no missing links and the purse is in excellent condition. The purse opens out to reveal a hinged interior divider. There are very faint hallmarks on one side of the purse that look like the French boars head stamp, indicating .800 silver content.
The little snap closures are shaped like little tulip buds and are really delightful. It is thought the frame was guilded as a slight residue remains. The original patina is present, which adds to its authenticity. Really lovely 19th century original treasure from the past to collect appreciate the workmanship and skill from artisans of the past.
