Beautiful Japanese vase with an egg shell blue glaze and dark blue and bronze candy stripe design. The shape of the vase looks to be mid century modern with an octagonal shaped base, graduating towards a smaller octagonal neck. The clay feels really hard and is a dark brown hard packed material, that could be bizen clay. Bizen is named after the village of Imbe, Bizen in Okayama prefecture and has a history of over 1000 years. The vase is very elegant and the egg shell blue glaze continues into the inside of the vase. The glaze is crackled all over the entire surface, outside and inside the vase. The vase is signed to the base, unfortunately the maker couldn't be found. Great collectors piece.
