Andrew Fogslbers may have been of Swedish origin. He was born 1732 and died in 1815. His name suggests a Swedish origin and possibly arrival in this country already trained as a goldsmith. Research would indicate he may have apprenticed to a silversmith in Halmsted.
Andrew Fogelbergt first appears in London as plate worker, Church Street, Soho, in the Parl. Report 1773. His mark alone was therefore presumably entered in the missing register a little before this. Second mark entered as a plate worker, in partnership with Stephen Gilbert, July 1780. Address: 29 Church Street, St Anne's Soho. Heal records the partnership at this address until 1793.; also Fogelberg alone till 1800.
Fogelberg worked in Neo-classical styles, characterized by oval and vase or urn forms with beaded or pearled edging, lanceolate leaves, narrow receded legs and floral swags.
