c1907 Super Rare "The Mysterious Hugardes" Illusionists 4 Advertising Bills.
Hugard, Jean
(1872-1959) Australian-born magician and magic author. Real name John G. Boyce. Started his performing career in 1896, turning pro in 1900 as "Jean Hugarde" and "Ching Sun Loo". Worked in American vaudeville and then in his own magic theatre in Coney Island's Luna Park before retiring his act in 1929 to become an author. His most famous illusion was "The Birth of the Sea Nymph", an illusion sold to him by creator and illusion builder Charles Catulle. Prolific author of books that are still popular today, including Encyclopedia of Card Tricks and Coin Magic. Also the founder of Hugard's Magic Monthly, which was published from 1943 to 1959. 100% genuine & incredibly rare. 4 advertising bills promoting "The Mysterious Hugardes" performances at various Queensland locations including Charters Towers, Barcaldine, Brisbane & an unknown location. The bills are stuck to cardboard & vary in size from 22cms x 14.3cms to 29cms x 22cms. There are losses as per photos. Note the stamps to the rear of each, ex The Bill Tatton collection.
