Description
Pretty Collectable Sterling Silver 1940's Hobé Flower Brooch Etched Petal 20.5g
This striking sterling silver collectable 1940's Hobé flower brooch features delightful etched petals with a multi berry centre. The curved petals are gently layered to achieve a naturalistic look. The rear of the piece is stamped with Hobé, Sterling and Design Pat'd dating this piece to around the 1940's. Hobé was originally founded by Jacques Hobé in France in 1887. Jacques was a Master Goldsmith but wanted to create jewellery that could be afforded by the masses. He moved to America during the 1920's with his son William who would go on to continue his fathers legacy.
During the 1940's Hobé jewellery was mainly made by William Hobé or his wife Sylvia. As is the case with this particular piece. Over time the brooch has taken on a darker patina with some signs of use but overall for its age, it is great vintage condition. It such a great design and would be a wonderful addition to any jewellery collection.
