HNCO are pleased to announce that we have just obtained an extensive collection of 1883 Engineering Drawing Lithographs relating to Henry Coathupe Mais's 1883 World Tour "Report on Observations on Railways During a Tour in 1883" The drawings are not only Railway related, they also include Lifts / Elevators, Bridges etc etc. They are 100% genuine and are not reproductions. The drawings originally accompanied an extensive report compiled by Mais after his tour.
Henry Coathupe Mais (1827 - 1916) MInstCE, MIMechE, MVIE, MASCE, was the Engineer-in-Chief, Public Works, South Australia from 1867 to 1887. Under his direction most of the South Australian Government Railways and many narrow gauge mineral railways were constructed.
This is a folding bookplate, No. 22 dated 24/12/1883 & printed by the South Australian Gov. Printer. It is entitled Mail Bag Picking Up Arrangements as used on the Railways in the United States When unfolded it measures 59cms x 33cms. Some foxing, fold lines as per photos, tiny losses to the edges. Looks better than the photos depict. It will be posted folded with added protection.
