Stunning original design by renowned Scottish artist and jeweller, Hamish Dawson Bowman. Hamish based his design on a piece by Peter Wylie Davidson, who created a brooch that featured in his book, 'Applied Design in the Precious Metals' (1929) which was a similar design. This rare silver necklace was created by Hamish who stamped his work with the makers mark D.B. The neckpiece is a casting with pierced out swooping swallows in flying formation.
Hamish founded the company Celtic Art Industries in 1945 in Glasgow, the necklace is also stamped with C.A.I. as well as Scotland and Silver. Modern day reproductions of this necklace are selling for around AUD $800+, this is however, an original vintage piece from the artist, fully signed with makers marks and dating to around 1949. Definitely a collectors piece. The necklace, though delicate is in good condition for its age, with only one owner, who has looked after it. A fabulous piece to enjoy and treasure.
