Refined 18ct Gold 2.26ct Diamonds & Enamel Basket Weave Card Purse Case 163.1g
Beautifully refined, Art Deco style, Mid Century 18 carat yellow and white gold card case with gorgeous rows of sparkling diamonds. The panels of the case are embellished with striking deep royal blue enamel that highlights the intricate woven pattern of the yellow gold beneath. Everything about this case is sheer perfection, inside and out. The degree of skill and precision required to produce something so spectacular is apparent from every direction. To the front of the case the double rows of enamel make the diamonds really pop. A white gold thumb button inlaid with diamonds serves to open the case and it closes with a good snap. The ornamentation, style and quality of work draws similarities to cases designed by esteemed maker van Cleef & Arpels. We cannot attribute this case to any particular jeweller. This case is French in origins, but the makers marks, are just not clear even to decipher, indefinitely. One of the stamps on the case is the purity stamp and the other oval stamp is possibly an import stamp without any other makers stamps.
Inside the case opens up to reveal precision engineered and carefully crafted hinges and riveted sections. The bones of the case are super strong with the woven gold sections being slightly fluid. The only slight imperfection is a minor surface chip on one corner and slight discolouration to rear gold in very small section (please see last photo's) it does not distract from the beauty of the piece as a whole. This is an exceptional Objet d'art of the highest quality. It could be used as a credit card case, cigarette case or card case for a special set of playing cards. A stunning piece like this does not present itself too often in such incredible condition. Not much is known about its life prior to HNCO but it has been treasured for sure.
