Antique sterling silver, decorative serving bowl with decorative pierced out sections. The dish is further decorated with ornate grapes, vines and pierced, cut-out flourishes in an open yet solid structure. The beautiful bowl also has a blank cartouche to each side, that could be engraved. George Nathan and Ridley Hayes were exceptional silversmiths who created limited reproduction pieces based on archeological discoveries from 'Mycenae and Assyria' or in modern day terms, pertaining to Greece to Iraq. This particular example of their work certainly has a Grecian style about it, with the grapes and vine leaf decoration. The delicate looking yet solidly constructed bowl is hallmarked with Chester hallmark, date letter Q for 1899, silver quality mark as well as G.N & R.H in a shield, the makers mark stamp. The overall condition of the bowl is excellent, with just light usage and light surface scratches, commensurate with age. It could be used for fruit, serving dish on the table or just as a beautiful decorative object on display. The choice is yours.
