Stunning 22ct Yellow Gold & Diamond Victorian Mourning Jewellery Set 12.5g

Stunningly beautiful, 22 carat yellow gold jewellery set comprising of a mourning brooch with stunning sun burst design and pair of drop earrings in the same style. The rich gold tone is really bright and warm due to the high gold content. The pretty rose cut diamonds are all hand faceted and are bead set with star engraving technique, making the diamonds appear much larger. This delightful set is from the Victorian period and comes with the original presentation box that is leather bound. The little box is still in reasonable condition for its age. The brooch has a removable back for a piece of hair or photo to be placed inside. This brooch originally would have a locket of hair coiled round inside, then the brooch would be worn near the heart. Mourning jewellery was a very Victorian era fashion, with very beautiful and elaborate pieces of jewellery produced to tastefully house pieces of hair from deceased loved ones.

This particular example is in amazing condition and has a real timeless elegance about it. The set does not have any hallmarks but has been laser tested as 22 carat with the exception of the brooch pin.
