Vintage Mexican Sterling Silver & Faux Tortoiseshell Winged Dragonfly Brooch 25.3g

Highly collectable vintage, sterling silver and faux tortoiseshell dragonfly brooch. This stunning piece was handmade in Mexico and is very similar to the rare Mid-Century William Spratling design also made in Mexico. Without a signature to the rear this particular one cannot be attributed to the artist despite how similar the brooches are. This well constructed brooch features a naturalistic dragonfly with two sets of wings, one set of wings is inlaid with a type of faux tortoiseshell. The colours present in the tortoiseshell resin are deep brown and honey like hues. The brooch fitting is working perfectly. To the rear of the brooch is stamped with 925, Mexico and TH - 84. The beautiful piece was carefully hand polished and cleaned, all ready for the new owner to enjoy.
