Description
Amazing sterling silver squash blossom necklace set with needlepoint sodalite cabochons. The sodalite stones are set into a decorative setting with leaves and a larger centrepiece with black enamel work and a sterling silver circular disc attached to the centrepiece. This is not original as was added to fill the missing part. The necklace is stunning and is very well made and very creative. The back of the centrepiece has been signed 925 and OPS©. Unfortunately, the artist name cannot be found from the three letters. The necklace doesn't look very old and could be made by more modern navajo Jewellery artists in the last 5 - 10 years. Passing down skills within the family and ensuring a whole new generation of artists continue to flourish is key to preserving the rich culture of Native American Indian Jewellery. The needlepoint setting is a great example of this and is usually a passed down skill within zuni tribes.
