Vintage Rare Longines C.O.S.D. “Tuna Can” British Military Wristwatch c.1945. The original off white dial with black numbers, inner 24 hours in red, centre seconds and blue steel hands, is signed Longines swiss made. The cal 12.68N manual wind movement is working, recently serviced, fully signed Longines swiss made 16 jewels 6904744. The tuna case with screw back and original solid lugs measures 35.5mm across and is signed on the back hard to make out, but its there. A rare piece of history, see pics for condition, its seen some military service in its time.
The markings on the case back, C.O.S.D, stands for “Combined Operations Stores Depot”.
The Combined Operations Command was established in 1940 by Winston Churchill immediately after the evacuation of Dunkirk and its sole objective was to undertake offensive operations against the enemy via a combination of land, sea and air forces.
